Since my last update we have had the experience to meet Hurricane Matthew who disrupted many things in our lives. Several of the announcements listed below are things that have been rescheduled because of Matthew’s arrival in our area.
Many of you have been wondering about make-up days for the days missed from the storms. We are still waiting to see what Glynn County will be doing regarding this. Once they have made a decision, we will evaluate it and make our plans. We will notify you as soon as possible. We do realize that some families have already made plans for time away during breaks. If we make up days, we will try to give you as much advanced notice as possible.
Thank you to everyone that helped us with the Fall Festival this past weekend. It took a lot of volunteer hours from many people to make it a success. Thank you for the great spirit of helping each other that we have here at BCA! There are many people that came together to help, parents, teachers, students and others. I would like to specifically mention two people that put in many, many hours for the Fall Festival. Special thanks to Heather Padgett-Loper and Maria Gamble!
This Friday, October 28 is our annual Florida/Georgia Day. (I will attempt to be kind in this update since my comments in last month’s update may have offended some Bulldog fans, and the fact that there is a slim chance that Georgia could actually win and then I would have to eat my words – been there, done that!) Remember that uniform pants should still be worn that day and no face paint or hair paint.
The revival services at First Free Will Baptist Church had to be rescheduled due to Matthew. The services will be held starting on Sunday, November 6 through Thursday night, November 10. Monday, November 7 will be BCA night and we encourage all of our students and their families to attend. Of course, you are welcome each night at 7:00 PM. We will have combined chapel services each day at 8:15. Parents are welcome to attend the chapel services. Chapel dress will only be on Wednesday as normal.
School Picture Days had to be rescheduled because of the hurricane as well. The preschool/daycare pictures will be taken on Tuesday, October 25. The K5-11th grade pictures will be on Monday, November 7. Regular school uniforms should be worn.
Don’t forget to change your clocks on Sunday morning November 6. Move your clocks BACK one hour and enjoy an extra hour of sleep.
Each year BCA can choose one teacher to be honored as “Teacher of the Year” through the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce. BCA teachers and administration can nominate one of their peers for this honor. This year, the BCA Teacher of the Year is our 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Sparre. Mrs. Sparre has been teaching at BCA for 42 years! She has been a such blessing to our ministry and to many students and parents (some parents who were once her student). Congratulations Mrs. Sparre! We hope that you can keep teaching for another 42 years!
In His service,
Mr. Scott Birt
